Eugene Patrice Aucoin

Biography:

I'm Georgina (Eugene's sister), writing Eugene's biography from what I remember before he passed away at 12 years old. Eugene was born with a heart condition but we thought it was similar to what his older siblings had (Claudette & Marcel) and that he could be operated on and would be fine like the other two. However, when he went to Halifax in September of 1967 to undergo tests before the operation, he passed away while the tests were being performed. It was a big shock to the family, to his friends and to the entire small community of Cheticamp in Cape Breton. Eugene was an active youngster while living, going to school and doing well, playing hockey, riding his bicycle and doing all the things that his friends did. He wasn't sickly and no one expected a sudden death. One of his best friends and classmate (Ronnie Bourgeois)later wrote a song about Eugene, which is being reproduced below.
